Strolling with Pat
Patricia Priest, an organizer of the "Saturday Stroll" series in Watkinsville hosted by the Oconee Democrats, will lead the hourlong stroll this Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. in front of the Oconee County Courthouse.
Priest, an independent producer and writer for public radio, will lead a "sound walk" stroll in which participants focus on the aural environment. "Though it sounds odd, it's actually fun and interesting, and it feels a bit conspiratorial, too, as we'll silently take in the hubbub at places such as the Farmers Market and elsewhere," she said.
Priest has a doctorate from the University of Georgia Henry W. Grady College of Journalism, where she received a "best dissertation" honor in 1992. Her work has appeared on Georgia Public Radio, on national programs such as "Living on Earth," and in The Washington Post.
Tickets cost $5 per person, and proceeds will be donated to the relief fund of the Oconee-based Disabled American Veterans group.
